N.G.D. Malmqvist (1924-), Professor emeritus in Sinology, Stockholm University; Member of The Swedish Academy, The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, The Royal Swedish Academy of Letters; Scholar, Translator and Poet; has written extensively in the fields of Chinese historical linguistics, dialectology, grammar and metrics; has translated some 40 volumes of Chinese literature (Ancient, Medieval, Modern and Contemporary) into Swedish; has translated works of contemporary Swedish poets (Kjell Espmark, Ingela Strandberg, Lennart Sjögren) into English; has translated works of contemporary Swedish poets (Tomas Tranströmer, Kjell Espmark) into Chinese; has published essays and haiku poetry in Chinese.
